RISING TIDE BEGINNER BAND

We are the Rising Tide Adult Beginner Band, and we would like to invite you to join us. No experience necessary. Everyone welcome. We practice every Tuesday night, September to June, at Carson Graham Secondary in North Vancouver.

WHO IS THIS BAND FOR?

The absolute beginner, or those wanting to change their instrument, or

those returning on an old instrument after a long, long time.

New: Newbies intake now September and January!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Newbies

(September/October and January start.)

Individual or small group lessons with qualified instructors on how to

play your instrument for 1 hour each practice and the join the main band

for the last half hour, or practice on your own.

Small group or individual lessons last for as long as needed.

Some may find only a few lessons necessary

while others might need longer.

Experienced Players

Returning or players joining with more experience

join the main band for the full practice.

A different kind of Big Band Jazz Band.

We are a no pressure, no audition big band community band.

We play a wide variety of music styles - funk, rock, swing, standards, bebop...and everything jazz in between.

can play at a high school level or above
and you love to play jazz or
would love to learn to play jazz, then...

Joshua Capri
M.Ed, B.Ed, B.Mus

Meet Joshua Capri.

Joshua is an accomplished professional musician, counsellor, band leader and public school band teacher.

Joshua takes over the leadership of An Accidental Jazz Band this year.

Joshua brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the Accidentals and we are exited to have him as our leader.

Joshua directed the Rising Tide last year.

Ardeshir Pourkeramati

BA, MA, Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies

Welcome our newest music director, Ardeshir Pourkeramati.

Ardeshir holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern California. There he was mentored by Bob Mintzer, Clarence Penn, Vince Mendoza, Ralph Moore, and Eric Reed. He also earned a master’s degree from the University of Oregon, where he studied with Steve Owen and Dave Liebman, and a bachelor’s degree from Capilano University, studying under Brad Turner, Steve Kaldestad, and Bill Coon.

We are excited to welcome Ardeshire to the SCMA team.
